Welcome to the home of Legacy Knoll Middle School Athletics!

Students in good academic and behavorial standing at LKMS in grades 6-8 are eligible to compete on athletic teams. Please note, football is for grades 7-8.

  • The Legacy Knoll Baseball team is a spring sport for athletes 6th-8th grade who attend LKMS. This program is a competitive team that requires tryouts in the spring, with the regular season running from the beginning of February through March. Please reach out to Coach Isaac Thomas (isaac.thomas@jcss.us) if you have any questions or need additional information.

  • Basketball is a winter sport that takes place from the end of October to the end of January. Tryouts will take place after school, October 1-3. Basketball is open to all middle school athletes. We will have a 6th grade team, an A team and a B team. Practice is held daily from 4-6pm.

  • LKMS offers both football and competition cheerleading in the fall, and basketball cheer in the winter.

  • Cross Country is a fall sport with summer conditioning taking place during the summer, and our season taking place in August and September. Reach out to Coach Mayfield (chandler.mayfield@jcss.us) if you have any questions.

  • Golf is a spring sport that begins in February and runs through spring break.

  • Flag football is a girls sport offered in the spring at the middle school level.

  • Football is a fall sport open to LKMS boys in 7th and 8th grade, with the official season running from June through October. Spring practices are held in April, followed by summer workouts beginning in June. The football program promotes teamwork, discipline, hard work, accountability, and selflessness while preparing student-athletes to succeed both on and off the field.   • Softball is a fall sport beginning in July and running through the beginning of October. It is open to 6th-8th grade females who are enrolled at LKMS. If you have any questions please reach out to one of the coaches.

  • The Legacy Middle School Swim Team is open to all students in grades 6–8 who are interested in developing their swimming skills, improving fitness, and representing Legacy in a fun, team-focused environment. Swimmers of all experience levels are welcome, as long as they meet the basic swimming requirement. The season runs from October through the end of January. Practices are held Monday through Thursday at Swim Atlanta in Dacula, GA. Training focuses on improving stroke technique (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly), starts and turns, endurance, and overall strength and conditioning. Coaches emphasize good sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal improvement. The Legacy Knoll Middle School Swim Team is a great way for students to stay active, build confidence, make new friends, and develop strong swimming skills that can carry over into high school and beyond.

  • Tennis is a Spring sport that goes between February and the end of March. Tennis practice and matches are held at Empower.

  • Track is a Spring sport that is open to boys and girls in 6-8th grade. The season lasts until the end of March, practice and home meets are held off campus at Empower. Meeting days are on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 4-6pm.

  • Volleyball is a fall sport open to LKMS girls 6th-8th grade with the official season running from July to the beginning of October. Tryouts for the upcoming season take place in May of the previous school year, with open gyms for optional training the month prior. It is a competitive program that values its strength as a team and promotes a positive, hard working, selfless culture!   • Wrestling is a sport that is combined with West Jackson for practice, but we compete in matches and tournaments separately as LKMS. Practices are held off campus at WJMS. Wrestling is a Winter sport.

  • Basketball is a winter sport that takes place from the end of October to the end of January. Tryouts will take place after school, October 1-2.  Basketball is open to all middle school athletes grades 6-8. There will be two teams this season. Practice is held daily from 4-6pm.
