Title I Information

WINTER READING CHALLENGE: Keep Your Skills Sharp Over Break!

Research indicates that students can lose up to two months of reading progress during extended breaks (Renaissance, 2018Scholastic, 2022). Help your child maintain literacy skills with our Winter Reading Challenge! Students who complete 10 days of reading practice (December 18 - January 5) will receive a reward upon our return to school. 

Three Track Options:

  • Track 1: Independent Reading (20 minutes/day)
  • Track 2: Reading + Activity (20 minutes/day) 6th Grade: 2A; 7th Grade: 2B; 8th Grade: 2A
  • Track 3: English Learner Track with Lexia English (20 minutes/day) *Taking Spanish? You can also do the activities on this track*

How to Participate: Click on the PDF Link below to access the Reading Log. (Some students may have picked up a paper log from their homeroom teacher) Families can choose to complete a paper log OR submit digitally via our Google Form.

What Is Title I ?
Title I is a federally funded program that is intended to supplement the regular classroom curriculum.  Students are provided extra assistance with reading and/or math. The program's goal is to support students, so that every child meets and/or exceeds the state's standards.  A variety of teaching methods and materials are used to reinforce curriculum concepts.

What Does School-Wide Title I Mean ?
A school-wide Title I program ensures the success of all Legacy Knoll Middle School students.  Everyone has access to the numerous resources and materials purchased with Title I funds, including iPads, laptops, computer programs, books, manipulatives, and learning games.

How Does This Impact My Child ?
Your child has access to excellent resources and enriching programs.  Your family makes a difference in our school through volunteer opportunities, education classes, and parent advisory committees.
