Principal Dr Miriam Ledford-Lyle

Principal Dr. Miriam Ledford-Lyle

Dr. Miriam Ledford-Lyle was approved as the first-ever principal of Legacy Knoll Middle School by the Jackson County School System Board of Education on Monday, Nov. 14.

Dr. Ledford-Lyle will assume her duties in the spring semester. Upon being officially hired for her new role inside JCSS, Dr. Ledford-Lyle is looking forward to engaging herself inside the Jackson County community, and establishing relationships with staff, students and community members.

“I truly believe in collaboration. So the times in my life where I was on teams and we worked together, we accomplished so much more. It is about creating a group of people who share a common mission, a common goal,” Ledford-Lyle said. “The first thing you do is listen. You listen to the people who want to be at that school and you listen to people who are in the district already. You listen to the people who have opened schools and learn from them.

“Then you create a really long list of things and work with your team to accomplish those tasks. So on the first day of school you are excited when students are walking through the door.”

Dr. Ledford-Lyle has served as the Assistant Principal at Social Circle High School since 2018. Prior to her appointment as assistant principal, Dr. Ledford-Lyle served as a middle and high school social studies teacher in Oconee, Clark and Gwinnett counties. She was named the Oconee County District Teacher of the Year in 2012.

Dr. Ledford-Lyle is a graduate of Berry College and the University of Georgia. She is recently completed her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from UGA.

Dr. Ledford-Lyle is married to Scott Lyle and they have one daughter, Lainey Lyle.
