JCSS Named Top Workplace
The Jackson County School System has been named a 2024 Top Workplace by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Cox Media. The announcement comes following an anonymous employee survey conducted in the spring, where employees gave feedback on the positives of working inside Jackson County.
JCSS received over 80 percent of its employees completing the survey and scored high enough in each category to earn the top workplace distinction. To be eligible, over 35 percent of employees were required to respond.
"Growing large organizations are complex and multifaceted. Our goal at JCSS is to continue to provide a small town feel where we care about each other. This is affirmation from our employees that we value high quality relationships with our students and each other," JCSS Superintendent Dr. Philip Brown said. "We continuously talk about building a culture within our schools and organization that fosters a productive, safe, and supportive environment for our employees. To be recognized as a top workplace shows the right work is happening here in Jackson County."
The Jackson County School System was ranked in the large business category, which features organizations with more than 500 employees. JCSS has over 1,500 full-time employees. Of the organizations in the large business category, only 28 received the distinction of a top workplace.
The Jackson County School System is the fastest growing system in the state of Georgia with a growing student enrollment that is now over 11,200 students for the first-time in county history. JCSS has opened two new schools in the past two years, with Legacy Knoll Middle School opening in August of 2023 and Heroes Elementary School opening in August of 2024. The system opened both without incurring any debt for the community, using SPLOST Funds, State Capital Outlay and General Funds to build the new schools.
